Cisco Unified Communication Manager is a Linux-based telephone call processing system. Supports basic standards such as SIP, H.323, MGCP and proprietary SCCP. CUCM is a solution that is designed for medium and large organizations. When clustering servers, one cluster can handle 30,000 users. Up to 20 servers can be located in one cluster, and only 8 of them are designed directly for processing telephone alarms. The rest are TFTP, MOH (music on hold) server, CUC and others. Among 8 servers, one Publisher is usually allocated, and the rest are Subscriber's. Publisher’s primary role is to replicate the database to all other servers. CUCM is software that is easy to administer and configure.

The Cisco Call Manager must also identify and resolve the issues relating to the Cisco software, Cisco IP phones, and voicemail. They should coordinate with other hardware and software professionals relating to networks and telecommunications. It is the Cisco Call Manager duty to be the primary point of contact for any queries relating to ISP outages and other issues.
